Sensitivity

Sensitivity

One who experiences the effects of tooth sensitivity stays away from routine activities like avoiding hot or cold beverages, sometimes avoids brushing their teeth. Sensitivity happens when the enamel of the teeth gets weared and the dentin underneath gets exposed. The dentin has minute channels, called tubules, which are pathways to the nerve. When dentinal tubules are exposed, due to receding gum tissue or enamel loss, nerves are more easily triggered by certain stimuli causing tooth sensitivity.

If Sensitivity Was Due To Loss Of Enamel

If sensitivity was due to loss of enamel then it will lead to loss of dentin which in turn affects the nerve of the teeth resulting in treatment for root canal of the teeth followed by Crowning the teeth.

Composite Filling

We help you get rid of that sensitivity in your teeth. A dental filling covers the open space in your tooth which in turn stops the bacteria from entering and causing decay of the tooth. The dental filling in Trichy at Dr Nivea’s Dental is a more affordable and permanent solution for the Dental Sensitivity.

As with most dental restorations at our dental clinics, composite fillings are very durable, and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.

Reasons For Composite Fillings

Pulp Capping

Procedure where the deepest layer of the remaining affected carious dentin is covered with layer of biocompatible material in order to prevant pulpal exposure and further trauma to pulp. The tooth should be totally Asymptomatic

As with most dental restorations at our dental clinics, composite fillings are very durable, and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.

Root Canal Treatment ( Rct )

To know about root canal treatment, we need to understand the anatomy of the tooth. A tooth is hollow, like our bones, and is composed of several layers.

The outermost layer (above the gum-line) is called the enamel. Enamel is the hardest and most mineralized substance in the body which is stronger even than the Bone

Under the enamel is the middle layer called dentin. The dentin is about as hard as bone. Beneath the dentin is the innermost layer called the dental pulp which contains nerves and blood vessels. The dental pulp is the soft inner mass of the tooth. The dental pulp is housed in a canal called the root canal

The pulp is needed to nourish the tooth during its growth and development. After a tooth is fully mature, the function of the pulp is to let us know if it is damaged or infected by transmitting pain. Hence pain is the defense mechanism of the body

Due to various reasons, it becomes necessary to remove the infected pulp, clean out the root canals and fill that space with a sterile material to prevent further infection. This procedure is called Endodontic Therapy or popularly known as root canal treatment

If Sensitivity Was Due To Gum Loss

If sensitivity was due to loss of gum that is recession of gums which subsequently leads to to recession of bone that is bone demineralization in such a case the tooth becomes weak start to shake and might end up coming out of the socket so literally you lose a teeth which in future will go for implant treatment

Root Planning Treatment: (More Than 3mm Gum Recession)

Dentin, cementum, enamel, and dental pulp are the four main components of teeth. As periodontitis persists, the disease typically damages the cementum, dentin, or both. Root planning is an attempt to smooth rough surfaces and remove any sub gingival bacteria.

During the procedure, Dr. Nivea Arunan cleans deep below the gums ( Sub gingival curettage in Laser ) to remove plaque and tartar buildup on the roots of teeth where the bones are affected by the infection. Planning involves the complete removal of cementum, which is the calcified film that covers a tooth’s root.

The procedure may also involve the removal of a small superficial layer of dentin, which is the second layer of teeth that develops below the enamel.

Bone Graft Treatment

Bone grafting is a procedure that is used to build bone so that dental implants can be placed. Bone grafting techniques are designed to rebuild bone structure with the minimum amount of surgery necessary and optimal patient comfort.

Major Bone Grafting

Major bone grafting is usually performed when patients need to repair large defects of the jaw.  Large defects are repaired using the patient’s own bone, which is harvested from other places on the patient’s body.  Common donor sites include the skull, hip, and knee. Defects that require major bone grafting include when the patient suffers a traumatic injury, tumor surgery, or congenital defects.  Major bone grafting procedures are typically performed in a hospital operating room, and require a hospital stay when it is done in other body parts.

Minor Bone Grafting

Minor bone grafting is usually performed when the patient does not have enough bone structure to support and stabilize an implant.  Ridge Preservation, Sinus Lift Procedure and Onlay Bone Grafting are all forms of minor bone grafting surgeries. Minor bone grafting procedures are typically performed in the office under local anesthetic like “Articaine”.
